Following NYFW RTW Spring 2014

Fashion week is finally here! I so wish I could be there in person, but for now the photos and videos will have to suffice. I have been following all of the runway shows on style.com (an awesome source, by the way). Some trends that I have already picked up on are the following: black & white, lace overlay, embroidery, cutouts, and tribal/ exotic prints. I cannot wait to see what else is to come! I love the evolution of fashion. From season to season, you can see small shifts that exaggerate or obliterate a trend from the previous season. Then from year to year, you witness major shifts that change based on our culture and current style. Although I definitely lean towards classic pieces when it comes to my personal style, I still love following the trends and analyzing them. Anyways, these are some of my favorite runway designs so far:

Alice + Olivia

DVF

Mara Hoffman

Lela Rose

Pink + Scalloped Trim

Over the past several seasons, the scalloped trim trend has caught on. I think that the scalloped edges of shorts, skirts, and tops will be around for a while. I love pink and I love scalloped edges, so the two together make a great combination!

Mademoiselle C

Some of my all time favorite films are those the delve beneath the surface of the fashion industry. I LOVED the September Issue and The Tents! I cannot wait for Mademoiselle C to come out in theaters September 11th, which is all about Carine Roitfeld, the former Editor of Vogue Paris. Enjoy this clip of the first five minutes of the film!
